Yuraygir Coastal Walk. 5 days, 4 nights

On the coast of Northern NSW, this 65km hike encompasses the beauty of the Yuraygir National Park. The hike starts at Yamba and finishes at Red Rock. Bring your binoculars, the whales are within sight! Maximum group size is 12 hikers.

Day 1

·       Meet at Red Rock by 2.00pm (see map for location)

·       Bus leaves Red Rock at 2.00pm

·       Arrive Yamba Hotel accommodation around 4.00pm. Free time till 6.30pm.

·       Dinner at Yamba Hotel at 6.30pm (own cost)

Day 2 Angourie to Brooms Head

 ·      PADS rating is 2.3/5. Rated moderate.

·       Mini bus transfer to start of walk at Mara Creek (Angourie) at 8.30am

·       Start walking around 9.00am, to Brooms Head (17km)

·       Accommodation at Brooms Head. Shop located below the units.

·       Dinner at Bowling Club (Chinese, own cost)

Day 3 Brooms Head to Minnie Water

 ·      PADS rating is 2.3/5. Rated moderate.

·       Start walking at about 8.30am, to Minnie Water (18km)

·       Arrive at Sandon around lunch time. River crossing is arranged.

·       Walk to Minnie Water store – purchase needs for evening and next day

·       Walk to Minnie Water Caravan Park. Accommodation in Cabins

·       BBQ dinner, beer and wine will be provided

Day 4 Minnie Water to Wooli

 ·      PADS rating is 2.2/5. Rated easy.

·       Start walking at about 9.00am, to Wooli (14km)

·       Arrive Wooli Big 4 Caravan Park at about 3 .00pm. Accommodation in ‘beach huts’ or cabins

·       Canoes / kayaks available – explore Wooli River

·       Dinner at Wooli Pub at 6.00pm (own cost)

Day 5 Minnie Waters to Red Rock

·       Boat crossing arranged at about 8.30am

·       Start walking at about 9.00am, to Red Rock (12km). The first 4-5km is the most difficult part of the walk. Lots of rock platforms, but it will be close to low tide.

·       Lunch at Station Creek. Can walk across Station Creek

·       Walk to Red Rock. River crossing by small boat is arranged

·       Walk finishes about 4.00pm. Drive home!

What to bring

·       Sun protection – sunscreen, hat, sunglasses, long sleeve shirt, long trousers, comfortable shoes

·       First aid, blister pack, any drugs you rely on, and EAR PLUGS!

·       Walking pole(s), especially for day 4

·       Water – suggest 2L per person per day

·       Cover for your backpack

·       Warm clothes for the evening
